Rilakkuma Cafe

Hi Huneybees,

Last month I went for a little dessert time with Joey and tons of Rilakkuma products at BonJapan @ OC. Never been to such a Japanese event and boy it was fun. We took our time to immerse ourselves with the toys surrounding us, taking pictures and enjoying our sweet sweet desserts. Joey's the Rilakkuma fan and I'm a fan of all things kawaii and Japanese.

Bought a new sweater from F21 while waiting for Joey that day and slipped it on as well.
Greeted by huge ass Rilakkuma bears at the door!
Rilakkuma (リラックマ Rirakkuma, a combination of the Japanese pronunciation of relax and the Japanese word for bear) is a Japanese character produced by the San-X company who debuted in 2003. Rilakkuma and Tarepanda, another San-X character, have been described as "huge hits in Japan" by The New York Times. As of May 2010, Rilakkuma ranked as the fifth most popular character in Japan in a survey of the Character Databank.
The San-X company puts staff members under obligation to create one cute character per month. Aki Kondo (also the creater of Okutan to Dannachan) saw a TV show about dogs. She wished to own a pet because at that time she was very busy working and hoped for a more relaxing life. Rilakkuma is an embodiment of her wish.                           ---- Wikipedia

The menu for the day.

Not only do you get to eat these items there, you can also buy them home...

Each table had a designated Rilakkuma character to accompany the guests.

Let's check out the Rilakkuma products on the shelves for customers to purchase home!

I even spotted Gloomy bears! And the boss told me they will be having a Gloomy Bear Cafe soon ~

So here are the other kawaii Japanese character products, Hello Kitty, Melody, Cinnamaroll, Stitch, etc...

Joey brought her Rilakkuma along to have tea with us and we were having a super enjoyable time, chatting and dining with all the cute cute cute Rilakkuma-s...

Table is set and the food is served.

After eating, we left a little note in the notepad the boss handed to us...

I've also snapped pictures of some other drawings the other customers left behind. Everyone's so talented!

I love the idea of a toy character cafe, can't wait for the Gloomy Bear one to come ~
